Description

The Claims Specialist plays a key role in supporting NAPA Transportation's commitment to safety and risk management by assisting with the handling of accident, injury, cargo, and third-party claims. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring timely claim resolution and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

Claims Management:

  • Assist with the management of accident, cargo, injury, and third-party claims from initial reporting through resolution.
  • Report new claims to insurance carriers and provide regular updates to the Claims Manager.
  • Maintain accurate claims files, documentation, claim diaries, and follow-up activity.

Investigation & Coordination:

  • Communicate accident and incident information with internal departments, insurance carriers, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Coordinate accident-related repair tracking with the maintenance department and ensure accurate repair documentation.
  • Track owner-operator and lease purchase liability chargebacks.

Reporting & Risk Management:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety and claims reports.
  • Identify and escalate unresolved claims issues or operational concerns.
  • Support departmental initiatives focused on risk reduction and continuous improvement.

Support & Response:

    • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, responding remotely to critical issues.
    • Travel as needed to accident sites, company locations, vendor facilities, and other business-related destinations.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of administrative experience required; transportation claims or insurance experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation claims processes; familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and company systems.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
