Vice President of Brokerage
Description
The VP of Brokerage is responsible for the overall management and profitable growth of the Freight Brokerage service offering. This position will proactively lead improvement efforts to increase booking of existing customer freight, drive new sales growth, leverage operational efficiencies, and significantly grow the carrier base, along with P&L responsibility for the non-asset portion of NAPA Transportation, Inc. business.
Responsibilities
- Direct and develop all brokerage department activities including customer service, operations, sales, and carrier relations.
- Provide input and lead the execution of a plan to expand freight brokerage services.
- Build, train and support a high performing brokerage services team.
- Develop top talent as part of overall growth and succession planning strategy.
- Oversee planning and execution to enhance the overall customer experience.
- Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Assist in the recruiting, development and expansion of approved carrier base.
- Participate in customer and carrier contract and rate negotiations as required.
- Prepare budgets with challenging goals for gross revenue, net revenue and profit.
- Achieve overall service, growth and profitability objectives.
- Prepare reports as it relates to service and financial performance.
- Manage departmental performance using a range of objective and financial measures.
- Support the branches and other team members in their business development efforts.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation and presentation of RFI/RFQ responses.
- Accurately assess/review team member performance.
- Performs other responsibilities as determined by business needs.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience within a leadership role within freight brokerage industry to include management of operations, sales & P&L.
- Proven experience operating & growing profitable freight brokerage business, including hiring and developing a team.
- Proficient in current & future market conditions/trends.
